Job title

From Teflpedia
(Redirected from Job titles)

A job title is a noun used to describe someone who does a job.

Traditionally, some jobs were performed mostly by men or mostly by women. Consequently, words to describe these tended to be gendered nouns. Examples include fireman, policeman, etc. and actress, seamstress, etc. In contemporary society, we have moved away from this and gender-neutral job titles such as firefighter, police officer are often preferred.
