International Phonetic Association

From Teflpedia

The International Phonetic Association (/ɪntə'næʃənəl fənetɪk əsəʊsɪ'eɪʃən/, IPA; French Association phonétique internationale (/asɔsjasjɔ̃ fɔ.ne.tik ɛ̃tɛʁnasjɔnal/, API)) is an association for phoneticians. It was established in 1886 in Paris. It is responsible for the International Phonetic Alphabet (also, confusingly, IPA).
