Language proficiency plateau
From Teflpedia
A language proficiency plateau occurs a when a language learner’s language proficiency improvement significantly slows, or even stops altogether.
This is in part due to pursuit of diminishing returns.
Different learners may plateau at slightly different levels, so you might get students plateauing with a pre-intermediate plateau, or upper-intermediate plateau, or even possible elementary plateau.

The plural of plateau may be plateaus or plateaux; see French plural.
