Implied subject

From Teflpedia

An implied subject is a subject that is implied, often pragmatically, but not explicitly stated as an expressed subject is.

In English, the imperative mood has an implied subject:

  • “Go to the shops!" means "[You] go to the shops!"

Also, the subject can be dropped, particularly in informal speech. For example, someone can say:

“Went to the gym today. Did a class. Spoke to my friend" implies “I went to the gym today. I did a class. I spoke to my friend.”

Or as a question:

“Go to the gym today?" means “Did you go to the park today?.”
