Lemma

From Teflpedia
(Redirected from Headword)

A lemma (/lemə/) or headword (/hedwɜ:(r)d/) is the main dictionary entry, that is, the base form of a word. It will be followed by its inflected forms, if any.

Headword counts are an important proxy in scoring the readability of texts, particularly graded readers.
