Grammatical unit

From Teflpedia

A grammatical unit or unit of grammar is a unit of grammar

There is a basic hierarchy from small to large:

Word and phrase are often combined into a single category word or phrase, sometimes phrase and clause combined into phrase or clause, and occasionally word, phrase and clause combined into word, phrase or clause.

There are no bigger grammatical units than a sentence. Rather, above the level of the sentence is the realm of discourse and discourse analysis with discourse units.
