Gradable adverb

From Teflpedia

A gradable adverb is an adverb that possesses gradability. Gradable adverbs are gradable modifiers, and are similar to gradable adjectives.

For example, in English, the adverb "quickly" is gradable - "he runs quickly" can be graded to "he runs very quickly" or "he runs fairly quickly", etc.

A gradable adverb can be contrasted with strong adverbs; absolute adverbs appear to be rare.

They usually have gradable antonyms.

Do not confuse gradable adverb with adverb of degree - the latter expresses degree and modifies a phrase.
