Goodreads is a social book review website.

  • Originally set up privately, it’s now owned by the behemoth Amazon
  • Cataloguing of graded readers is a bit patchy. Despite the policy not to merge adaptations, well meaning editors see a book labelled $Title by $SourceAuthor with the original edition, though in reality this isn’t actually $Title by $SourceAuthor but a graded reader adaptation written by $Adaptor, and merge them together. Finding the readers and splitting them from the umpteen thousand other editions of a popular classic public domain novel is difficult…hint: it helps if you can change the primary author to the $adaptor and leave the $SourceAuthor in second place.
  • It’s mostly in English, but people post reviews in other random languages as well.
  • It is blocked in China
  • It tends to be dominated by "romance" genre, especially the wierd stuff…
