A glyph /(ɡlɪf/) also known as a character or symbol is an elemental symbol within an agreed set of symbols, intended to represent a readable character for the purposes of writing.[1]

These symbols are used to form words, sentences, and other forms of written communication in a written or digital form.

Characters can include letters of the alphabet (e.g., A, B, C and a, b, c,), number symbols (e.g., 1, 2, 3), punctuation marks (e.g., !, ?, .), special symbols (e.g., @, $, %), and various other symbols used in writing and text encoding.
