Glossary

From Teflpedia
(Redirected from Glossaries)

A glossary (/glɒsəri/) is a reference work consisting of an alphabetical list of terms in a particular domain of knowledge, (e.g. ELT-related jargon), with the definitions for those terms. Traditionally, a glossary appears at the end of a book and includes terms within that book that are either newly introduced, uncommon, or specialised.[1]

The best general ELT-related glossary is probably An A-Z of ELT by Thornbury. What you’re reading now, Teflpedia, is also a glossary in part.

Glossaries are often referred to by publishers as “dictionaries" as that term probably has more recognition amongst readers.
