Giraffe letter

From Teflpedia
A cartoon of a giraffe, somewhat resembling the character h.

A giraffe letter is a written character that’s written with an ascender that reaches up to the mid-line from the baseline, like the neck of a giraffe.

Only lower case characters can be giraffe letters. In the Roman alphabet, which is typically used for English, the characters lowercase B, lowercase D, lowercase F, lowercase H, lowercase K and lowercase L are giraffe letters. Of these, h most resembles a giraffe, with its ascender as its neck. lowercase T is a baby giraffe letter, such that it reaches above the mid-line but not all the way up.
