George Orwell (/ˈʤɔ:(r)ʤ ˈɔ:(r)wel/) was the pen name of Eric Arthur Blair (/ˈerɪk ˈɑ:(r)θə(r) ˈbleə(r)/, 1903–1950), a British author.

Orwell worked as a teacher in the UK briefly between 1932 and 1934.
