First person plural
From Teflpedia
The first person plural is the numbered grammatical person that consists of the plural use of the first person.
In English, the pronoun set for this consists of:
Type | Pronoun |
---|---|
Subject pronoun | we |
Object pronoun | us |
Dependent possessive pronoun | our |
Independent possessive pronoun | ours |
Reflexive pronoun | ourselves |
Typically, we use the pronoun I. For example, “My wife and I had dinner last night.” Use of nominative me as a subject pronoun is however common, but considered non-standard and informal. Over-correction of this leads to accusative I.
In English, the first person plural has agency, and is of the dual gender, so it marks personal agency but is not marked for being masculine or feminine.
