S (/es/, lower case s) is the 19th letter of the Latin alphabet, as used in English, and the 15th consonant letter.
“S" is often an abbreviation for student; plural “Ss.” Compare T. S is the basis of $, the dollar sign.
The letter S, lower case s (pronounced /es/) has four pronunciations: /s/ as in say or mouse, /z/ as in cousin or choose, /ʃ/ as in sugar or extension and /ʒ/ as in pleasure or vision. It can also be a silent letter, as silent S.
