Criterion

From Teflpedia

A criterion (plural: criteria) is “a principle or standard by which something may be judged or decided.”

Using criteria to make judgements is common in education. For example, see marking criteria,

As an English word, criterion has a Greek plural, criteria. The use of criteria as the singular form is widespread, but often considered incorrect.[1][2] Using ?criterions as a regular plural is not common.

The word criterion comes from the Ancient Greek term κριτήριον (kritḗrion), which means “a test” or “a means of judging.”
