A consonant letter is a letter that represents a consonant sound.

There are 21 consonant letters in the Latin alphabet, as principally used for English, these being B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P Q, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y and Z.

Although letters W and Y can sometimes be used to represent vowel sounds, they are nevertheless classed as consonant letters rather than as vowel letters.

The Greek alphabet also has consonants, these being beta, gamma, delta, zeta, theta, iota, kappa, lambda, mu, nu, xi, pi, rho, sigma, tau, phi, chi, and psi. Consonants are also found in Cyrillic alphabets.
