Conditional should

From Teflpedia

Conditional should involves in English using should to form conditional clauses.[1]

  • "Should I pass the test, I will be happy."
  • "Should they have won the game, they will be happy."

Should is of course in the past tense, but it seems we can make both real conditionals and unreal conditionals in this way.

This structure is typical of a highly formal, written register.

Should can also be used in a past tense consequential clauses, just like any other preterite of a modal verb, to express obligation.
