Colon

From Teflpedia

The colon (/ˈkəʊlɒn/) or : is a punctuation mark consisting of two equally sized dots centred on the same vertical line. A colon precedes an explanation or an enumeration or list.[1]

:

The dots of a colon are usually either square or round, depending on font/typeface.

The semi-colon is to a colon what a comma is to a full stop.

The triangular colon is a specific colon that’s used in the International Phonetic Alphabet, and this has triangular dots. Because that symbol is not easily available on a keyboard, SAMPA permits the use of a colon in its place.
