Bangladesh is a country in South Asia.

Before 1987 English was an official language, and before 1948 it was a colonial language, as Bengal was part of British India. However, as a result of language politics, particularly a strong Bengali language movement to promote Bengali and thereby marginalise English, Bengali is now the only official language. This has played out in the education sector as well.[1]
