Auxiliary verb

An auxiliary verb (often known pedagogically as a helping verb) is a verb used with another verb to express aspect.
An English clause typically uses one or two auxiliary verbs. The exception is that be and sometimes have (independent have) can be used by themselves.
- The primary auxiliary verbs (or primary verbs) are be, do and have;[1]
- The secondary auxiliary verbs are get, go and used (to);
- The modal auxiliary verbs (or modal verbs) are shall, should; will, would; can, could; may, might; and must.
