Anglophone is a term that means English-speaking. It combines the Anglo- prefix with the -phone suffix.
As such, it can be used to refer to English speakers, or English-speaking countries (often "Anglophone countries"), often in contrast to other words, in particular:
- Francophone (French-speaking)
- Italophone (Italian-speaking)
- Hispanophone (Spanish-speaking)
- Lusophone (Portuguese speaking)
- Russophone (Russian-speaking)
- Sinophone (Chinese-speaking)
