Alveolar sibilant
From Teflpedia
(Redirected from Alveolar sibilants)
An alveolar sibilant is a sibilant (a type of consonant sound) formed with the tongue behind the top front teeth. There are two of these in the standard English phonemes; which form a consonant pair; the unvoiced alveolar sibilant /s/ and the voiced alveolar sibilant /z/.
