Alphabetical order

From Teflpedia

Alphabetical order is a form of list order based on the order of letters in an alphabet, such as the Latin alphabet used for English.[1]

For example, the colours of the rainbow in spectral order are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. However, in alphabetical order they are blue, green, indigo, orange, red, violet and yellow.

Lists are often displayed in alphabetical order, particularly those found in reference works such as dictionaries, thesauruses and encyclopedias. We usually list people by surname before first name.
