Agency
From Teflpedia
Agency (/ˈeɪʤənsi/) is the ability to make changes to the real world; to do things.
Something or someone with agency is an agent. Agency is expressed in the active voice. In the passive voice, however, it may be marked using an agency prepositional phrase (i.e. a prepositional phrase with preposition of agency), or omitted entirely.
In English, agency may be marked with the agentive -er suffix.
Agency can be classified into personal agency and non-personal agency. A computer has non-personal agency; it does things; it computes, but it only does what it is programmed to do.
