An academic degree is a qualification awarded to students upon successful completion of a course of study in higher education, usually at a university or higher education college.

A bachelor's degree, usually in any subject, is often a requirement for a work visa in many countries. Teaching English as a foreign language without a degree is possible only in some jurisdictions.
