A Comprehensive Grammar of the English Language (CGEL) is a 1985 grammar book of English by Randolph Quirk, Sidney Greenbaum, Geoffrey Leech and Jan Svartvik. It may be referenced as "Quirk et al. (1985)".
As the title suggests, it is intended to be comprehensive, and is a total of 1779 pages long(!).
