The Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE) is an organisation.

They have been deeply involved in Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and they have produced various “can do" lists of ability.[1]

The association was originally formed in 1989 by the Universities of Cambridge and Salamanca and quickly grew to eight members. Now, twenty-six languages are represented by thirty-one members.[2]
