𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘵ᴇʀ vowel phoneme /ə(r)/

From Teflpedia

The 𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘵ᴇʀ vowel phoneme /ə(r)/ is a rhotic vowel phoneme that can be distinguished from the 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮ᴀ vowel by the presence of a terminal /r/, which is often dropped in non-rhotic accents.

Speakers use this as the second, unstressed, vowel in its keyword letter.[1]

In rhotic accents, this is the standard pronunciation of the 𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘵ᴇʀ lexical set. Speakers with non-rhotic accents have the 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘥ᴇʀ–𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘥ᴀ merger. Non-rhotic speakers will produce a linking /r/ if the next word begins with a vowel sound.

This one is not typically considered one of the standard English phonemes, as the vowel sound is covered by the 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮ᴀ vowel phoneme. It may, however, be worth teaching separately.
