⟨oor⟩

From Teflpedia

⟨oor⟩ is a vowel trigraph that occurs in English.

Words with this phonogram are mostly in the ᴄᴜʀᴇ lexical set, and have the ᴄᴜʀᴇ vowel. Some, such as floor and door are in the ꜰᴏʀᴄᴇ lexical set, and have the ɴᴏʀᴛʜ vowel phoneme /ɔː(r)/ in most accents. To add confusion, many speakers also now pronounce words in the ᴄᴜʀᴇ lexical set with the ɴᴏʀᴛʜ vowel as well.

English speakers with rhotic accents pronounce the final R; those with non‑rhotic accents pronounce the final R only as a linking /r/.

Example words include door, floor, poor, moor; and various compound words. Less common words include boor and spoor.
