⟨augh⟩

From Teflpedia

⟨augh⟩ is an English vowel tetragraph, usually representing the ᴛʜᴏᴜɢʜᴛ vowel phoneme /ɔ:/, in words like caught, daughter, taught, etc.[1]

There are two exceptions where gh is pronounced as /f/; laugh is pronounced /læf/ or Cockney/estuary English/Southern RP /lɑ:f/. Similarly, draught is /dræft/ or /drɑ:ft/. Both of these are in the ʙᴀᴛʜ lexical set and have to be learnt as sightwords. Both also have various derivations (e.g. laughter, draughts) and compounds, e.g. laughingstock[2] or draughtsman.[3]
