ɴᴏʀᴛʜ–ꜰᴏʀᴄᴇ merger

From Teflpedia

The ɴᴏʀᴛʜ–ꜰᴏʀᴄᴇ merger, also known as the ʜᴏʀꜱᴇ–ʜᴏᴀʀꜱᴇ merger is a phonological merger that occurs when words that belong to both the ɴᴏʀᴛʜ lexical set, and the ꜰᴏʀᴄᴇ lexical set are pronounced with the same phoneme. This is found as standard in many accents, including RP and General American.

Telling which words are ɴᴏʀᴛʜ words and which are ꜰᴏʀᴄᴇ words based purely on spelling can be difficult. Given its general prevalence, and ⟨or⟩ and ⟨ore⟩ both say ɴᴏʀᴛʜ vowel, and leave it at that.
