É (e acute (/i:(j)əkju:t/) lower case é) is the letter E with an acute diacritic.[1]

It's the most common accented character used in English, as it is frequently found in French loanwords; it is also found in Portuguese loanwords.

This may often be omitted, with little change in meaning, (compare cliché and cliche, or fiancée and fiancee) but sometimes this can have differences; compare résumé and resume.
