Greetings All, Given their function a means for expressing one's opinions, forums are necessarily pure POV, and yours truly is therefore not one to use 'em as a reliable source for references. That said, I hope you'll all permit me just the one example I've added to the article re. the Swan/Widdowson polemic, as it sums it up very nicely.

I particularly enjoyed the writer's parting shot: "To trainee teachers, the communicative approach sounds like the greatest thing since sliced bread, but for those of us who have smelled the smoke and seen the elephant for some time, well, Swan's argument makes a great deal of sense." Couldn't have put it better meself... Cheers!--Technopat 12:43, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps it's the couple of beers, but that seems to be pretty dense, acronym-filled, exam-orientated stuff. Nothing necessarily wrong in teaching to an exam of course, and I'll have to read it again when my brain is in a better state. Moving on from that - looks like an interesting forum, at first glance something like a Facebook for English teachers.--Bob M 17:26, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
It's the beers. My only ref. was the bit about Swan/Widdowson - I did a page search for Swan and went straight to the point - no idea what the rest was about. --Technopat 17:44, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
