Native speaker
From Teflpedia
(Redirected from Native speakers)
Native speakers are those who speak the language they learn from birth.
This language is sometimes referred to as the first language, L1, mother tongue, native language, or arterial language.
There is sometimes debate about whether native speakers can "make mistakes", even when what they say is considered sub- or non-standard use of the language. This is associated with the discussion about descriptive grammar and prescriptive grammar.
