Functional notional approach

The functional notional approach organizes language lessons around real life functions and notions. Typical examples would be lessons based around common life situations, such as ordering food at a restaurant, buying something at a store, welcoming guests into your home, a medical visit, visiting a dentist, asking or giving directions, etc.
