Exercise

An exercise in English-language teaching refers to an activity generated by either the teacher or coursebook for students to practise either one or more of the four basic language skills or to test or demonstrate their knowledge of grammar.

Exercises can be oral or written and used both in the classroom and for homework. They can be grammar-based or vocabulary-based.
