A living language cannot be totally isolated from its cultural aspects, the people who speak it, the history of the country or region in which it is spoken and so on.

Although the English language originated in the United Kingdom the majority of English speakers, students and teachers now come from other backgrounds and the following list provides links to aspects and icons of British culture which may be of interest to non-British teachers of English and their students.
